For Yb 3+-Ho 3+ codoped KYP, red emission was obtained due to the strong 5F 5- 5I 8 transition of Ho 3+.

The sensor sensitivities were calculated and compared based on the thermally coupled and non-thermally coupled levels of Er 3+. For Yb 3+-Er 3+ codoped KYP, it was found the relative intensities of different emissions of Er 3+ change with temperature, and the repeatability of measurement was evaluated. Several effective strategies for temperature sensing were introduced based on their upconversion (UC) luminescence properties. A series of Yb 3+-Er 3+/Ho 3+/Tm 3+ doped K 3Y(PO 4) 2 (KYP) phosphors were synthesized by solid-state reaction method.
